What is Faraja?+
Faraja is point of sale credit that allows you to buy goods and services and also pay bills from partner outlets at a 0% interest. This means that there is no interest charged when you pay back what you borrowed. This service has a 30 day and a 7-day loan term.
Who qualifies for Faraja 0%, interest free credit?+
FARAJA is available to qualifying M-PESA customers with an active Safaricom line, with credit limits determined by credit viability.
How do I activate Faraja?+
Dial *799#, and select OPT in.
How many Accounts can I hold on Faraja?+
Faraja will allow a maximum of two accounts under one National ID.
How many times can I use Faraja?+
You can perform unlimited transactions up to your credit limit.
Can I withdraw money on my Faraja account?+
No, you can’t withdraw money from your Faraja account.
Which transactions can I use for Faraja?+
For any LIPA Na MPESA: Buy goods and Pay bill transactions at Faraja select outlets.
What are Faraja select outlets and how do I know which outlets accept Faraja?+
All the Faraja outlets will be listed on the website and media announcements. We will continually keep adding outlets. For the app, go to FARAJA app, and under menu select my account and select partners to view the list of merchants.
How do I use my Faraja limit?+
At the point of purchase, dial *799#, select Faraja, and pay the amount to the till number at the merchant store as you would with MPESA. On the app, select Faraja, and pay amount at the merchant store.
How much will I be charged for using Faraja?+
Faraja is a 0%, interest service, so there is no fee charged. However, MPESA transaction charges apply.
How do I Payback/ Repay for Faraja?+
You need to dial *799#, your transactions will be displayed, you can pay for only one transaction at a time. choose the one you want to pay for, press send.
You will be required to enter your MPESA PIN as the money is being paid from the MPESA wallet, press send, a screen will appear for you to accept or decline. Once accepted, a notification will be sent confirming the transaction details, amount paid and new credit balance.
The same can be done on the app. For a 30-day loan cycle, the loan is due on the 30th day and likewise, the 7-day loan is due on the 7th day after the loan is given.
Can I make a partial repayment?+
Yes, you can. If you make a partial payment before your due date, you increase your chances of qualifying for a higher credit amount.
Can I take another Faraja credit loan if I pay before the due date?+
Yes, however the full amount has to be repaid before a new loan is given.
How do I increase my limit?+
By paying back before the due date or on time. You will also receive a notification of any increase in your limit.
What is the minimum and maximum transaction amount on Faraja?+
The minimum you can transact is Kshs 20 and the maximum is Kshs 100,000, but this is restricted to your approved credit limit.
How do I pay for my goods and services?+
Dial *799# and select either 1. Buy goods and Services or 2. Paybill. For 1. You will be prompted to enter the till number, amount and MPESA pin, after which you will receive a notification on the success/failure of your transaction. For 2: you will be prompted to enter the business number and account number, followed by MPESA pin and the corresponding notifications. This service requires you to enter your MPESA pin at every transaction and where authentication is required.
How do I check my balance on Faraja?+
Dial *799# and select My Account, then select View Balance. A notification with your account balance will be sent to you thereafter.
Are there any late payment charges?+
No, however, you will not have access to your Faraja account overdue.
Will I get my credit reversed if I paid to the wrong till number/make an error?+
Kindly call FARAJA Customer Care on 0111 799 799 to get assistance on reversing your transaction. You will receive a notification acknowledging your issue and it will take up to 72 hours to reverse.
What happens if I lose my phone and I have Faraja credit?+
Your credit limit is safe because it is protected by your MPESA PIN. Replace your SIM card at any Safaricom Retail Center or agent outlet. Once you activate MPESA, you will be able to access your Faraja account with the same credit limit as before.
Can I request for Faraja credit immediately after I opt in?+
Yes, you can. Once you opt in, you can select Apply for 0% Interest Credit from the main menu.
What is the advantage of Faraja?+
Faraja Credit attracts neither interest no fees.
