Safaricom Boosts The BC International Jazz Festival with Kes 2 million sponsorship

The festival aims to nurture the growth of Jazz music and build opportunities for underprivileged youth who want to pursue a career in music.

Nairobi, Kenya 22nd February 2024… Safaricom (NSE: SCOM) has today announced a Kes 2 million sponsorship for the Bob Collymore International Jazz Festival that is scheduled for Saturday, 24^th February at the Carnivore Grounds.

Safaricom, known for its commitment to supporting the arts and young talent, has pledged the cash sponsorship to ensure the success of the concert organized by the Bob Collymore Foundation, in honour of the Late Safaricom CEO, Bob Collymore.

This contribution will enhance the festival's ability to attract top-tier musicians, support young talent such as the Ghetto Classics and Safaricom Youth Orchestra, and provide an immersive experience for attendees.

The Bob Collymore International Jazz Festival aims to promote the vibrant jazz scene and cultivate a deep appreciation for this timeless art. By bringing together talented artists, avid jazz enthusiasts, and the wider community, the festival strives to create an unforgettable fusion of soulful melodies and captivating performances.

Some of the notable artists set to perform at the event are Enkare Saxophone Quartet (KE), Humphrey Mubba (TZ), Samuel Mutuku (KE), Syssi Mananga (DRC), The Jazztified (KE), DJ D-lite (KE), Safaricom Youth Orchestra (KE) and the Ghetto Classics (KE).

Proceeds from the festival will go into music education and supporting underprivileged children including the Ghetto Classics. The Bob Collymore Foundation offers music education to over 300 underprivileged youths in Kenya, to transform their lives and communities.
