She was presented with the Ksh5 million cheque alongside seven other winners of the daily Ksh1 million in the consumer promotion that has elicited a lot of excitement and participation among Safaricom subscribers.

The seven, including Simon Mbogo, a Nairobi based security staffer at Kenya Wildlife Services; Thoya Baya, a construction worker in Mombasa; Rachael Muthoni, a salonist from Njoro and Mohammed Mursal Abdi, a cloth vendor from Daadab were  awarded at a ceremony held at Safaricom House and presided over by incoming CEO Bob Collymore.

Other winners included Joseph Kahumbi from Murang'a; Margaret Naisianoi Loloso, a Narok based small scale farmer and Mahat Ali from Wajir South.

While presenting the cheques, Mr Collymore said the company would continue rewarding customer loyalty especially as it marks its 10th anniversary this year.

"As the leading telecoms operator in Kenya, we are thankful especially to our subscribers who have been with us every step of the 10 years we have been in the market. It is our hope that this money will go a long way in improving the living standards of our esteemed subscribers." said Mr Collymore.

Last week, an Italian housewife living in Nairobi scooped the ksh5 million cash prize alongside four other Ksh1 million winners.

Currently the biggest consumer promotion ever seen in Kenya, Masonko na Safaricom aims at rewarding Safaricom's over 16 million Safaricom subscribers as the company celebrates its 10th anniversary this month.

The promotion runs till December 2 with both PrePay and PostPay customers eligible to win the daily amounts and weekly prizes of Ksh5 million.

Masonko na Safaricom will climax in a Grand Draw whose winner will walk away with a staggering Ksh25 million.

Safaricom PrePay customers qualify for one entry for every top-up of Ksh10, meaning the more one tops up their air-time, the more their chances of winning. For Safaricom PostPay subscribers, the currency for one entry is air-time usage worth Ksh10.
