4/06/2025 - M-PESA Foundation Invests KES 151 Million in Education Projects in Bungoma, Baringo and Homa Bay Counties
The projects, which will see three schools benefit from new infrastructure including classrooms, science and ICT labs, are part of the Foundation’s bid to improve education outcomes across the country.
M-PESA Foundation has invested KES 151 million in education projects in Homa Bay, Bungoma and Baringo counties as part of its continued efforts to enhance education outcomes across the country.
In Bungoma County, M-PESA Foundation is set to construct learning facilities worth KES 55 million at Toroso SA Primary School. The infrastructure includes 15 classrooms, ICT and Science laboratories, an administration block, a school kitchen and ablution blocks for teachers and learners.
In Homa Bay County, at Ligongo Primary School, the Foundation broke ground on school infrastructure worth KES 55 million. This includes 12 classrooms, an ICT laboratory, a school kitchen, as well as ablution blocks learners and staff, while in Baringo County, the Foundation invested KES 41 million in the construction and furnishing of a library, a 200-capacity multipurpose hall, ICT and science laboratories, ECDE classrooms, and the construction and furnishing of an administration block.
“In line with our purpose of transforming lives, we continue to collaborate with various partners, including the Ministry of Education, to invest in school renovation projects across the country, with a focus on the neediest cases,” said Joseph Ogutu, Chairman, Safaricom Foundation.
Meanwhile, Safaricom Foundation handed over a fully equipped science laboratory worth KES 2.5 million at Siangwe Secondary School in Bungoma County, while in Kakamega County, the Foundation also handed over four classrooms worth KES 6 million at St. Charles Lwanga Primary School.
M-PESA Foundation is undertaking similar projects in all 47 counties under its Citizens of the Future Programme where it seeks to enhance access to quality education through the improvement of learning infrastructure.
