GOtv Kenya Customers Can Now Acquire Set Boxes Through M-Shwari

Safaricom, Commercial Bank of Africa & MultiChoice launch decoder financing option to ensure Kenyans catch 2014 FIFA World Cup action.

Nairobi 30TH April 2014 Kenyans can now acquire a GOtv decoder on credit from M-Shwari in a timely move that will ensure they catch the 2014 FIFA World Cup action live from Brazil in June.

The partnership between Kenya's largest privately owned bank, CBA, leading integrated communications provider, Safaricom and Kenya’s top pay media operator, MultiChoice rides on the revolutionary M-Shwari platform that has made it possible for millions of Kenyans to save, earn interest and borrow money using their mobile phones.

M-Shwari is a game changing innovation that combines the best of CBA's 50 years of commercial banking experience with Safaricom's globally recognized and award winning M-PESA service. Already, M-Shwari is positively contributing to Kenya's financial inclusion agenda by making it possible for people to save as little as Ksh1, and to earn interest at rates of up to 5% p.a. on their savings. Customers of the service are able to borrow amounts from as little as Ksh 100 and the more they save the more the credit they will qualify for.

GOtv enables Governments to achieve a speedy migration to digital using the latest technology – DVB-T2, the most advanced digital standard in the world. Additionally, the set-top boxes sold by GOtv have been type-approved by Communication Commission of Kenya meaning the product has official authorization for sale within Kenya.

GOtv offers no less than 44 exciting TV channels ranging from news, sport, entertainment and children’s programs.

The GOtv decoder loan from M-Shwari will enable customers access a decoder at a cost of Ksh. 3,499 payable in three monthly instalments. In order to qualify for the loan one needs to be an M- Shwari customer and have a loan limit of at least Ksh. 1,000. To access this loan, a customer needs to dial *234*6#.

Customers can sign up for M-Shwari by going to the Safaricom menu on their phone, select "M-PESA", go to "My Account", then "Update Menu", then enter "M-PESA PIN" and wait to receive the updated M-PESA menu. After receiving updated menu, customers go to M-PESA, M-Shwari menu and accept terms & conditions.
