Wamathai Spoken Word is a key event in Nairobis Art Calendar. On this night poets get to share their souls and talent with others who love verse. It started out with a few poems and has now expanded into music and photography.
On Saturday the 10th of March The Michael Joseph Centre will host Wamathai March with performances by poets and word lovers that include Wanjiku Mwaura Mwende Ngao Mike Kwambo Kuni Mbichi Tear Drops Kaffy Mwangi Gathoni Le Cleric Kennet B Nuru Bahati Sentimental Floetry Namatsi Lukoye Carol Njenga and Vivian Wambui Ben Tena Kay Kay Amos and many more.
Spoken Word isnt just about poetry. There will be musical performances by Kenyas premier House Band Sounds Like a Plan SLAP and Kevin Mbulaa. There will also be an exhibition of photography by Sami Khan. The event will be held together seamlessly by the gifted hands and cheerful personas of Sam Buggz and Wanjeri Gakuru.
It all begins at 4.00 p.m. and will run until 7.00 p.m. so leave your evening open. Tickets cost 300/ in advance and you can buy yours at the reception of the Michael Joseph Centre.
