THE GREENWOOD SINGERS PRESENTS A CONCERT OF REMEMBRANCE

The Greenwood Singers’ Remembrance Concert is themed around remembrance in this hundredth anniversary of the beginning of the 1st World War.

The concert features Fauré’s Requiem, an unusually gentle and reflective setting of texts from the Catholic funeral mass. The Requiem will be accompanied by an instrumental ensemble.

The second half of the concert consists of a variety of shorter pieces related to the themes of loss and reminiscence, ranging from the French Renaissance to spirituals and Kenyan tunes all performed by the Greenwood Singers The Greenwood Singers are a multi-cultural chamber choir of 12-16 amateur singers based in Nairobi.

The group has been singing since 2008 and specializes in the early a cappella choir repertoire (Renaissance, Baroque) while also venturing into classical, modern, jazz and contemporary pieces.
