What is the good news?

You can now receive your M-PESA statement directly to your e-mail address in PDF format (advice the customer they need a PDF reader e.g. Adobe Acrobat).

What are the benefits of this service?

You can self-register for the service at your comfort on your mobile phone to receive statements.
You can access your M-PESA statements on demand.
Additionally, you can to carry out reconciliations without necessarily having to visit Safaricom retail stores.
Statements accessed may be used as required to access financial facilities; depending on the institution requesting it

How will the service be accessed and how much does it cost?

The service is free for all M-PESA customers and can be accessed by dialing *234# from their mobile phones

Enter e-mail address and confirm

For which periods can customers query their statements?

Customers will receive their M-PESA statements on a monthly basis or on demand for the:

1. Last 3 months

2. Last 6 months

3. Last 12 months

How long does Safaricom take to send my statement?

Customers will receive their statements within 5 minutes of making a successful request

I have an M-PESA statement that has a disclaimer indicating that it cannot be used in court. How can I get a statement that does not bear the disclaimer and for which I can use in court?

You need to visit the nearest Safaricom retail shop and inform them that you would like an M-PESA statement for court purposes. You will be provided with a form for which you will indicate your details and also provide your national ID. A request will be created for processing. You may collect your statement after a minimum of 5 business days..

My mother recently passed away. She had two numbers both of which had some funds on her M-PESA account, how can I go about obtaining a statement of the funds available in her M-PESA account?

Visit your nearest Safaricom retail shop with the following documents:

Your ID
A copy of the deceased’s death certificate (burial permits are not allowed)
An affidavit indicating your relationship with the deceased
A letter from the local county administration/chief in the deceased’s area of residence

I have obtained a statement with respect to my deceased mother’s M-PESA accounts. In one of the accounts she had KES 20,000 and in the other account she had KES 50,000. I would like to obtain the funds in order to defray some expenses. What do I do?

For M-PESA accounts containing amounts more than KES 30,000 you will need to provide the following documents:

Your ID
A copy of the deceased’s death certificate (burial permits are not allowed)
A Grant of Probate/ Grant of Letters of Administration intestate/ a letter from the public trustee

For M-PESA accounts containing amounts less than KES 30,000 you will need to provide the following documents:

Your ID
A copy of the deceased’s death certificate (burial permits are not allowed)
Letter from the county administration/ chief in the deceased’s area of residence

Once the above documents are provided, you will be required to fill in a claim form and nominate an M-PESA registered number to which we can transfer the funds within 72 hours.
