Sambaza: Now you can share your credit
Need to top up a loved one’s or colleague’s phone? It’s easy with Safaricom’s Sambaza service. Yes, you can now also top up a prepaid number through your PostPay line free of charge.
Here’s how to Sambaza from your PostPay Line:
1. USSD self care menu
Dial *240# and follow the prompt - to input the recipient’s number and the amount you wish to Sambaza.
Send an SMS to 240. It’s as easy as: Amount#recipient’s mobile number
3. Direct dialing
You can also directly access PostPay Sambaza by dialing *240*amount*recipient’s mobile number#
1. Successful top up
On successfully accessing the Sambaza service and topping up the prepay line, you will get a notification and be billed accordingly. Your PostPay account will be debited with the amount transferred and this will be reflected on your monthly itemised bill. The recipient’s PrePay subscriber account will meanwhile be credited with the amount transferred.
Using PostPay Sambaza is free of charge.
2. Valid up to 120 days
Air time balance amounts sent through PostPay Sambaza have different validity durations, depending on the amounts sent as per table below:
Airtime balance amount
Ksh 10 to Ksh 999
Ksh 1,000 to Ksh 10,000
3. Send as much as Ksh 500 daily
PostPay Sambaza is limited to Ksh 500 daily, regardless of the number of times you Sambaza. The minimum amount that you can transfer using PostPay Sambaza is Ksh 50. However, all Sambaza transactions will only be valid if after the transfer, your account still has an updated credit balance of Ksh 2000. This minimum balance is inclusive of the Ksh 252 monthly subscription fee.
