ROAM WITH SAFARICOM

Whatever your destination, you can get off the plane and onto your mobile phone by roaming with Safaricom Advantage, Kenya’s largest mobile phone network.  
 
Activating the roaming service

  • Before you travel, ensure that the roaming service is activated on your line. For assistance, visit any Safaricom shop.
  • On arrival, your phone will automatically display one of the local networks that has a roaming agreement with Safaricom.
  • You will then be able to make and receive calls as well as SMS.

Making calls and sending texts while roaming

  • Call any destination within the country you are visiting by simply dialling the relevant area code followed by the desired number.
  • To make an international call from the country you are visiting, simply dial:
    • Call home (Kenya) : + 254 followed by the desired number e.g. Safaricom mobile, dial +254 7xx xxxxxx, or Nairobi landline, dial +254 20 xxxxxx
    • Call other countries: + country code, area code, number e.g. UK + 4477 xxxxxxxxx.
    • Send SMS to Kenya or internationally: type your message and send to the number as above.

How much does it cost to make a call?
When you make a call, you will be charged the applicable rate as indicated in our tariff schedule.

How much does it cost to receive a call?
When you receive a call:

  • Your caller will be charged the relevant local, national or international rate
  • You will be charged for the international part of the call from Kenya to the country you are roaming in.

How much will browsing the internet cost?
When you use internet services, you will be charged according to the published roaming rates. All your roaming costs will be reflected in your next bill.

Controlling your roaming costs?
To get maximum benefit from Safaricom roaming services at a cost you are comfortable with, divert incoming calls and send text messages instead of calling.
